ENGLAND TEAM MEMBERS MADE HISTORY IN THE USA

Megan Whittle and Emily Nalls made history in February as two of the first athletes to play in the inaugural Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL). The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced the new franchise in 2024, and the first two games took place on 11 February 2025 under the Olympic Sixes rules.

Both Whittle and Nalls represented England at the most recent Women’s World Championship in 2022, taking home a bronze medal. University of Maryland alumnus, Whittle, was drafted to Maryland Charm and was coached by lacrosse legend Taylor Cummings. Nalls, who recently graduated from the University of North Carolina, played for California Palms, coached by Adam Sear.

Maryland Charm opened the WLL against New York Charging followed by California Palms against Boston Guard, and all games were streamed on ESPN+. The week-long event was the first of its kind in the USA, and Boston Guard ended on top followed by New York Charm, California Palms, and finally, Maryland Charm.
