ANOTHER COMPETITIVE YEAR AT THE NATIONAL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP

Long-running England Lacrosse event, the National Schools Championship, has once again taken place. The annual competition sees over 50 schools take part in more than 700 games across four days in Aldershot, crowning champions from various age groups and playing levels. With unseasonably clement weather for the most part, the competition seemed to run without a hitch, showcasing the best of what UK school lacrosse has to offer.

It’s been 28 years since Queen Anne’s School took home the U19 trophy, but this year proved to be theirs to shine. A stunning display from the team resulted in them ending the second day of the championship as winners, alongside Bolton (U19A Division 1), North London Collegiate (U19A Division 2), Guildford High (U19B Division 1) and Benenden (U19B Division 2).

The next few days were reserved for the younger age groups and U19C teams, and after some standout games from these young players, Berkhamsted lifted the U15A trophy having beaten Putney in overtime. On the same day, Wycombe Abbey claimed the U15A Division 1 title, St Swithun’s the U19C Division 1 title, and St Catherine’s took the U19C Division 2 title.

There was even more success to come over the weekend, with St Helen & St Katherine’s School winning at U14 level, and Hailybury reigning supreme in the U13s group.
