IRELAND WIN THE 2025 WOMEN’S EUROPEAN SIXES CUP
After a stunning long weekend of Sixes lacrosse in Portugal, Ireland have overcome Czechia to win the European Sixes Cup. The women’s tournament this year served as a qualifier for the World Games which are set to take place in August, and Ireland put up a tremendous fight in each round to ensure they earned their ticket.
Having lost to Czecia in an earlier round by 11 goals to 6, Ireland were the underdogs going into this final. The team in green and white looked in charge up until the third quarter which saw them score just one goal to Czecia’s four. But a comeback in the fourth allowed the game to go to a golden goal overtime period, giving Ireland’s Margaret Egan the chance to score her sixth and final goal of the tournament to cement the win for her nation.
Ireland will join Great Britain at the World Games which will run from 7-17 August in Chengdu, China.
