IRELAND WOMEN HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE 2025 WORLD GAMES

After a series of hard-fought battles at the European Sixes Cup in Portugal, Ireland has secured a place at the 2025 World Games, overcoming Israel in a dramatic showdown.

Ireland opened their campaign on Wednesday with a dominant 16-5 victory over Austria, followed by another commanding performance against Norway the next day, claiming a 17-6 win. However, their toughest test came later that evening against Czechia. Despite a determined effort, Ireland fell short, with Czechia taking the win 11-6.

Undeterred, Ireland bounced back in their semi-final clash against the Netherlands, delivering a thrilling 16-13 victory to set up their most crucial match of the tournament.

The final hurdle was Israel - a team closely matched to Ireland throughout the competition. The game was a nail-biter, with both teams pushing each other to the limit, forcing the contest into overtime. Then, in a moment of brilliance, Mairead Durkin struck the decisive goal, sealing Ireland’s place at the prestigious World Games this August.

We wish Ireland the best of luck in Sunday’s final, and a huge congratulations on their success so far!
